How a matchplays
the gate
- you play with a proven fomo account: 14 days old and 10 recorded trades, minimum.
- the backend asks fomo for the account and keeps the wallet on file. you sign a nonce with that wallet.
- nothing you type is trusted: the recovered address must equal the address fomo returned.
- one fomout account per proven wallet. the link is re-checked every 30 days, and you can ask to be forgotten.
formats and divisions
- squall: 64 players, 15 minutes, 20 USDC. whiteout: 256 players, 60 minutes, 50 USDC. blizzard: 1,024 players, 3 hours, 100 USDC, once a day.
- every format has a free twin: same rules, no stake, no pool.
- divisions come from the fomo 30-day leaderboard: open, pack (top 25%), apex (top 5%). a division decides who you face, never what you get.
your account inside a match
- everyone gets 10,000 units. units are simulated and never leave the match.
- leverage 1x to 10x, isolated margin per position, at most 3 open positions.
- markets are the 8 to 12 assets the fomo crowd is actually holding and trading, and only those with an oracle feed.
- maintenance margin is 1% of position size. equity below it liquidates the account: eliminated, no partial liquidation.
everything is public
market, side, leverage, size, entry and pnl are visible for every player, live. that is what makes copy, fade and the crowd penalty possible.
copy
- same market, same side, your size, with 3 seconds of imposed delay.
- the fill is at the oracle price current at the end of the delay, never at the copied player's price.
- a copy that closes in profit pays 10% of that profit to the copied player, capped at 500 units per copier per match, nothing on a loss, and only after a 5-minute hold.
the crowd penalty
the more of the live field is already on that side of that market, the worse your entry:
- under 10% of the field: no slippage.
- 10 to 20%: 0.15%. 20 to 35%: 0.40%. 35 to 50%: 0.90%. above half the field: 1.80%.
exactly 50.00% is still the 0.90% tier. the share is measured at the instant your order fills, after the copy delay, and the gauge shows it before you commit.
fade
- take the opposite side of a named player, your size, same 3-second delay, same crowd penalty on the side you take.
- if they are liquidated while your fade is open you take 5% of their remaining margin, floored at zero and capped at half of what is left, shared pro rata beyond that.
the storm floor
an equity floor rises in steps. at each step every account below it is eliminated in the same instant, ranked by equity.
- 20% of the match: 2,000. 40%: 4,500. 60%: 7,000. 75%: 9,000.
- 85%: 10,500. 92%: 12,500. 100%: 15,000.
from 85% the floor is above the starting stack, so sitting in cash is fatal.
whiteouts
two to four times a match, for 60 to 90 seconds, the feed cuts: no visible positions, no copy, no fade. a 5-second countdown is the only warning. your own book keeps trading. the times are drawn from the match seed, published with the rules, so a replay reproduces them exactly.
mirror
- twenty rounds. each shows one real, already-executed fomo trade: handle, asset, side, leverage, thesis and career card.
- you have 10 seconds to decide in rounds 1 to 10, 6 seconds after that: copy, fade or pass.
- the move is measured over 5 minutes of our oracle prices from the first observation after the round opened.
- copy scores stake x move x 10. fade scores the opposite, x 12.5. pass scores nothing.
- stakes are 100 units for rounds 1 to 10, then forced and rising to 1,000, so passing everything finishes last.
- no real market is ever traded from this feed, and nothing is shown before it is executed on chain.
ranking
- survivors above eliminated players.
- survivors by final equity, descending.
- eliminated players by elimination time, later first, then by equity at elimination.
- ties break on the lower registration index, deterministically.
money
- the rake is 10% of stakes and is the only revenue. no token, no pre-sale, no paid pass.
- the pool is 90% of stakes, paid to the top 10%: 25% to first, 15% to second, 10% to third, 20% split over fourth to tenth, 25% over the rest of the top 10%, and 5% to fade bounties.
- with fewer than 10 players, first, second and third take 50, 30 and 20.
- copy royalties are units inside a match. they move the ranking, never the escrow.
- a match that fails to fill is cancelled and every stake is refunded.
when something breaks
- a stale market stops: no orders, no copy, no fade, no liquidation on it. positions stay open at the last fresh price.
- every market stale for more than 5 minutes voids the match and refunds every stake in full.
- fomo going down mid-match changes nothing about scoring: the social feed freezes, the engine keeps running.
- disconnecting does not close anything. the floor and liquidation apply as usual, and reconnecting restores the same account.
